Googa Mooga
This past weekend the Great Googa Mooga festival out in
Prospect Park promised food, drink and music in the sun. It didn’t completely live up to its promises
but we still had a good time. First let’s
check out some of the food.
Dumont Burger- Sliders
Colicchio & Sons- Spit-charred Pork Belly Tacos
Dumont Burger- Sliders
Red Rooster- Berbere Roasted Chicken with Barbecue Sauce,
Mac & Greens, Cornbread.
Colicchio & Sons- Spit-charred Pork Belly Tacos
M. Wells- Bologna & Foie Gras Grilled Cheese Sandwich
The Brindle Room- Steakhouse Burger
Spotted Pig- Chargrilled Burger with Roquefort and
Shoestrings
Do or Dine- Foie Gras Doughnuts
I have to say my favorite item of the day was the Brindle
Room Burger. It was cooked perfect with salty
charred top and moist ground meat middle.
Brindle Room has been on my list for a long time now and
after the burger bite it’s moved up even more.
Besides food there was a ton of beer.
Unfortunately the Credit Cards you needed to purchase the
beer didn’t work so it wasn’t until about two hours into the festival that we
got to enjoy the beer.
But once we were able to enjoy we did.
This was the scene at about 2:00 that day- as you can see it’s
crowded but doable. Around 3:00 we had
to leave because the crowds were starting to become unbearable. Lines were stretching into hour long waits
and we had certainly had our fill. I
heard they ran out of food and beer soon after and things got somewhat
ugly. Luckily we left before that
happened. I didn’t see much music and my
water bottle was made to be poured out by security for some unknown reason but
I enjoyed myself nonetheless. Hopefully
next year they have some of those kinks worked out.
