Dessert Only at Quality Meats

Image
I swung by Quality Meats one hot, humid afternoon  dying for a dressed up scoop.   I'm not gonna lie I had been dreaming about my RW meal there and just wanted another little taste of their goods :)  I loved the Coffee and Doughnuts but this was even better.   On the bottom a layer of coconut cake, covered with smooth, creamy green tea ice cream and topped with a caramelized, coconut cookie.  The bartender told me this was his favorite of the scoops and I have to agree.  Now I have a whole new dessert to dream about this week! Restaurant Week at Quality Meats

Image
One of my favorite RW meals from last year is once again a winner.  I love that they offer a glass of wine with the RW menu for a lower cost, definitely helped with the savings.  Once again they brought out the piping hot rosemary rolls to begin. Onto my appetizer the Diver Scallops. I was concerned about the combination of almonds and grapes but it completely worked in a strange subtle way.  The entrees looked wonderful but I asked to sub in another appetizer as my main. I just couldn't eat here without having my favorite Steak Tartare in the city.  I could honestly eat one of these every single day.  But wait there's dessert! Coffee and Doughnuts to be exact.  What's not to love about this fabulous meal!  Our service was great, my company was even better and the price was incredibly friendly.  This may have to be an annual RW meal from here on out.  Quality Meats

Mini Holiday Food Guide- Rockefeller Center

Image
NYC is a wonderful and magical place to visit around the holiday season. The Rockefeller Center tree is gorgeous, all the hotels are decked out in red and gold, holiday pop-up shops fill the parks- what could be better? Unfortunately you have to be prepared for what I can only describe as controlled chaos. You will be wrangled like cattle to see the tree, stand in line at a Starbucks for 30 minutes, not for a caffeine fix but to use the single smelly bathroom and you’ll probably be so pooped out from all of your shopping and touring that you’ll see a TGI Friday’s or Olive Garden and think it’s an oasis in the storm. Two hours later (because you’ll have to wait for a table like all of the other tourists who thought the line at McDonald’s and Subway were too long) you’ll wonder why the food and service were so crappy and suddenly your wallet is empty as well. It’s the holidays in NYC folks and one must be prepared to weather the season. If you’re from the city you should know thi...

Restaurant Week at Quality Meats

Image
Well after my somewhat miserable experience at The Central Park Boathouse I had all but written off the rest of Restaurant Week. But then I ran into a friend over the weekend who absolutely raved about her lunch at Quality Meats. She was so happy about her meal I kind of obsessed about it all week and finally ended up taking a few hours off of work so I could try it out. One of the best parts about Quality Meats is that lunch goes until 3:00. I was able to get one of the last reservations which worked out perfectly for my schedule. I knew I had made the right decision as soon as my bread arrived in this little cast iron skillet! Fresh out of the oven golden rolls covered with rosemary and salt- it was one of the nicest bread baskets I’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Something about breaking apart each fluffy warm roll was so satisfying. I was extremely happy until my first course arrived- when I became elated. Look at this gorgeous Steak Tartare presentation!
