NYC Tastes

As I looked back on the past year I was seriously humbled by the amount of amazing places I've had the opportunity to enjoy.  I am so lucky to live in this wonderful city and don't take a moment for granted.  Hopefully this will serve as a guide for those of you trying to pick out some tasty meals in 2013.  It's not all new for 2012 but it was all new to me! Enjoy! Best Chocolatier- Chocolat Moderne This little shop on the 9th floor of an office building may be challenging to find but impossible to forget. Joan and her husband are creating incredible combinations such as Dark Chocolate Lime Toffee, Salted Espresso Milk Chocolate Caramel and Kalamto Olive with Sea Salt.  The patterns are almost to beautiful to eat but don't let the look fool you...they're way to delicious to leave for eyes only. After our fabulous meal at Jungsik the night before it was time to party it up for the actual birthday with friends.  We started out with a couple beers at McSorleys. Then over to Bobwhite Counter for their amazing Fried Chicken. With a couple of sides including Mac and Cheese Some creamy Cheddar Grits And then topped it all off across the street with some beers at Zum Schneider. You would think this would be enough celebration but we still had one more night to go. Bobwhitecounter

Tucked away over on Avenue C and 6 th - Bobwhite’s is something you could easily walk right past. But if you’re a southern food lover you should immediately make the stop. The fried chicken is made to order and arrives at your table piping hot and insanely crispy. Can you see the crispiness in this picture- well you’ll just have to take my word for it.   They have honey on the counter if you want to sweeten it up a bit and the side salad is a nice somewhat healthy addition to the plate.  The biscuit to me was only so so- Mr. T enjoyed it.  I guess I’m picky when it comes to biscuits.   The tiny space has a small but well thought out beer and wine list including our favorites Captain Lawrence and Founders, plus some sweet tea.
