New Brew Friday- Other Half Green City

Image
It's New Brew Friday and we're chilling in the neighborhood with an Other Half Green City at Blue Smoke .   This New England style IPA is brewed with Citra, Centennial and Simco hops giving it juicy, tropical flavors of orange and pineapple with a dry biscuit finish.  It clocks in at just 7% and is the perfect pairing with some of Blue Smoke's Alabama White Sauce Wings, which are half off during all March Madness games. Cheers to the weekend! Blue Smoke 116 East 27th Street at Lexington New York, NY 10016

New Brew Friday- Best Beers of 2016

Image
2016 was another fantastic year for craft beer especially in New York City.  New breweries have been popping up at an amazing pace and the demand for local beer is at an all time high.  Of course with such quick, rapid growth comes growing pains which can be witnessed at a Saturday morning Other Half can release where lines start as early as 1:00 AM or the crazy race for Grimm cans that fly off the shelf in minutes.  Hopefully things in 2017 will bring a bit more calm to the beer chase but it's wonderful to have so many great brews in our own backyard along with these five fabulous beauties.  Cheers to  the New Year! Hill Farmstead - Clover I probably could have written a"Best of List" for 2016 with just Hill Farmstead beers and there would be little to argue about.  Shaun Hill is a master at brewing and his recent bottle of Clover was one of my favorites to date.  A blend of three different saison's Ann, Art & Flora, aged for 12-22 mont...

New Brew Friday- Events!

So many great things going on this weekend in the NYC beer world I need to take a break from drinking great beer just to talk about them.    Threes Brewing -    Today at 3:00 PM Threes Brewing will be doing their 1st ever can release of two different brews; an IPA Day of the Dead and the Vliet Pilsner.  They made a bunch of these so the limit is 2 cases per style.  Time to load up for those summer BBQ's and beach days. Other Half - Saturday Other Half will be doing another triple can release this time Grits 'n' Greens Pilsner brewed with Creature Comforts,  No Lays Up imperial IPA brewed with The Answer Brewpub in Virginia and finally their imperial amarillo IPA Suparillo.  The release starts at 10:00 AM but it would be best to be in line early because these beers will certainly sell out quickly. Talk Beer Charity Bottle Share Raffle - Tickets to the charity bottle share on Saturday are all sold out but raffle tickets are still a...

New Brew Friday- Street Green

Image
Today's New Brew Friday is the newest beer to roll out of Brooklyn's Other Half; Street Green an American IPA brewed in collaboration with Boston's Trillium Brewing.  This beer pours a beautiful cloudy orange with just a tiny bit of foam that quickly dissipates.  Aromas of tangerine, mango and pineapple leap out of the glass.  The flavor is all tropical fruit; mango, tangerine, grapefruit and papaya with a super dry, dank, grassy finish that makes this beer incredibly crushable.  Being that both breweries are known for their exceptional IPA's the hype around this release was huge and I think they hit the mark by creating a really delicious beer.  The cans are all sold out but it's currently available on tap at the brewery and good beer bars around the city. Cheers to Friday! Other Half 195 Centre Street Brooklyn, NY 11231 Trillium Brewing 369 Congress Street Boston, MA 02210
