Cheers to Labor Day Weekend!

Image
I'm taking a little break from New Brew Friday today to bring you a delicious and frothy Grapefruit Margarita from Lure Fishbar. Lure has one of the best happy hours in the city with $8 cocktails, $7 wines and delicious bar snacks like crispy calamari with smoked chili for $6.  The boat themed restaurant gets crowded quickly so go before the summer ends to miss the regular after work rush.  Cheers! Restaurant Week Brunch at Lure

We had quite a jam packed and scalding hot weekend in NYC. Friday night we went to the Yankee game which began with an emotional tribute to Steinbrenner and Bob and ended with a thrilling walk off home run by Swisher. Saturday we took the train up to Westchester and spent the day where Mr. T grew up. His parents put on a fantastic spread of burgers, dogs, porterhouse steaks, and a ton of really good beer. Unfortunately I haven’t had a lot of really good beer in a while and all of those high octane drinks really caught up with me. I woke up Sunday feeling a little like a truck ran over me. Our friends showed up right on time and we got a table near the sushi station. Luckily I wasn’t the only one feeling under the weather. My friend had also had a few too many beers the night before and we were determined to find a way t...

Weekend Review- Highlight Lure Burger

This weekend was filled with lots of good fun food and drinks so I thought I would write a review. Friday a bunch of us met up at Zum Schneider around 5:30 and snagged a table. I got my usual potato pancakes. They are always so good! Honestly I think they are the best in the city- really crispy. And the salad that it comes with has a really tasty dressing. Unfortunately we enjoyed our time there a little too much with the big German beers and woke up on Saturday not feeling too good. We basically rested most of the day but decided we would go out for a good dinner. Mr Trekker was still recovering so he wanted only a quiet and relaxed place. I was craving a good burger and have heard that Lure Fish Bar's was good so we decided to go there. We showed up at 6:00 (we were in Florida last week and are still on that early dinner time it seems). The place only had two other groups eating so it was basically empty which was exactly what we were looking for being still a little beat up fro...
