Day Three Sweets and Treats
Thursday morning I woke up and had only one thing on the brain- croissants! I took a quick walk over to Poilane bakery and came home with breakfast for me and Mr. T.
This little bakery really churns out some fantastic wares. The croissant had prefect fluffy innards with just the right amount of chew and the apple tart was off the charts. The dough was so buttery and crisp I could have sat there all day eating flaky bite after flaky bite.
Of course I couldn’t help myself and stopped by Pierre Hermes on my morning walk as well!
Some more delicious macarons and a special pastry the Vanilla Infinite Emotions.
Seriously have you even seen a dessert that looks so beautiful and amazing? Three different types of vanilla were used for this dessert- Tahitian, Madagascar and Mexico- along with three different layers of frozen vanilla, baba with vanilla and mascarpone cream with vanilla. All the different layers and textures were pretty amazing to taste with each different kind of vanilla. And I had a nice little glass when we finished as a souvenir!
And of course the light, airy macarons were amazing as well. Just look at this creamy goodness. How have I lived without Pierre in my life until now?
After breakfast we were out for the day strolling through the Luxembourg Gardens and down to the Catacombs which Mr. T had been excited to visit. Unfortunately when we walked up to buy our tickets my heart started insanely racing and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. I guess I had a mini panic attack which is ridiculous since I’ve done much crazier and scarier things in my life…but for some reason I just couldn’t do it. I was very disappointed in myself and felt horrible for Mr T. But luckily there was still a ton of other things we needed to do in Paris so we traveled over to the Louvre and walked around that area a while and then it was time for a drink!
So we made a pit stop at Harry’s New York Bar.
This quirky little piano bar is famous for creating multiple famous cocktails like the Bloody Mary, Sidecar and James Bond. Of course I had to go for a martini myself.
And spent some time enjoying the little bowl of snack mix. We lounged there for a few drinks and then it was time to go- dinner at Frenchie was only one hour away!
