The Blazer Pub- Seriously Good Grub

We took a trip up to Mr. T’s old neighborhood last week and stopped by an old favorite The Blazer. The Blazer Pub was one of the first places Mr. T ever took me when I came to visit back in college.

Right off of Route 22 the Blazer never seems to have a shortage of cars parked out front. This always bustling bar/restaurant has quite the following of loyal patrons. We showed up around 7:00 Pm on Thursday night and had to wait over 20 minutes for a table…but it was so worth the wait.

Being the wing aficionado I am I have to say I was more than impressed with the Buffalo wings. They were fried just right with crispy ends, juicy meat and the sauce was spot on. Some nice heat up front but almost a slight sweetness to the end.

But what sealed the deal was the house made Blue Cheese dressing. OMG this was absolutely delicious. Never have I had such a creamy, funky, side with my wings. It was awesome.

Awesome would also be the way to describe the Cheeseburger. It looks like an average burger for sure but it is done almost to perfection.

The inside was a perfect shade of red and the salty outside, moist innards was an example of grilling excellence.

Stick with the original however- Mr. T got the special Blazer burger and that wasn’t as good. It came on a hard roll and was covered in some sweet onions. The roll was so hard Mr. T couldn’t even eat it. The burger would slid all around and pieces of bread would flake off with each bite. I ended up giving him my bun in the end and all was right in the world.

The bun is a minor bump in the road in an otherwise awesome pub atmosphere. I even slightly enjoyed my arch nemesis the Steak Fry, which kept a surprisingly crunchy, salty exterior. I highly recommend a stop if you’re in the area. It’s a great example of pub food done right.
