Dessert at the John Dory

I go on a Sticky Toffee Pudding craze each Winter it seems.  Something about this cold, blustery weather puts me in the mood for the classic British treat.



At the John Dory, it arrived as an enormous sponge cake covered in a light caramel sauce and topped with a dollop of Earl Grey whipped cream.



I loved the herb flavor from the cream but the rest of the dessert was a disappointment.  The cake was so dense it barely soaked up any sauce and never achieved that fabulous moist, sticky texture that makes it so popular....sigh...the search continues...
