Sigmound Pretzel Cookie

Just looking at the picture of this marvelous cookie makes me drool a little bit. This is a Wanko cookie from Sigmund’s Pretzel Shop down in Alphabet city.

Wanko you say? I’d go wanko for a gigantic peanut butter cookie stuffed with big chocolate chips and rounds of salty pretzel slices. I felt like I was eating an awesome cookie version of the Hershey’s Take Five bar. The cookie had been made hours before but the dough was still super soft and the chocolate chips retained a melty characteristic. This was a great cookie. My only suggestion would be more pretzel bits!!! The combination of peanut butter, salt and chocolate was amazing. Make sure we get that in each and every bite!

Have you tried the peanut butter cookie at City Bakery (which I think you've mentioned living near)? It's very unassuming but the pretzel cookie you ate kind of reminded me of it. Going more pretzelly the City Bakery pretzel croissant is something everyone should try. Most unusual.

I have had the pretzel crossiant from City Bakery. I thought it was interesting but I'm not sure if I was in love with it. I missed the extra buttery flaky crust of a regular crossiant a little to much. I do love their choclate chip cookies however so I must try out their peanut buter- thanks!

Yeah, the pretzel croissant even looks a little unappetizing. But now I quite like it in itself one in a while. The walnut-honey rugelach, chocolate zucchini cake and black-outs are good along more classic lines than the pretzel croissant. My fiance and I also quite like the little apple-bourbon-raisin cakes they're doing at the moment, taken home and eaten with ice cream! As you can see, we eat lunch there too often and then can't resist both eating desert there and taking something home for after dinner... Belated congratulations on your forthcoming wedding by the way -- reading about the proposal made us smile. Very happy for you.

Too Funny! Whenever there are desserts around we can't stop ourselves either! Thanks for the congratulations and I'll report back next time I'm at City bakery!
