My Annual Meal at the River Café

It’s Dine in Brooklyn time and once again I headed to the River Café for a nice relaxing meal on the water. My first course was Wild Fluke “Tiradito” with citrus- soy ponzu sauce, fresh hearts of palm, pickled chilies and cripy plantains.

I have fluke crudo all the time but this was the first experience where plantains were involved. I loved the crispy texture and really enjoyed all the citrus flavors going on. For my entrée I tried out the Crispy Duck Breast and duck confit tamale with gaujillo chili and traditional mole sauce.

This was a very interesting dish to say the least. The mole sauce was absolutely delicious and the duck confit tamale was a nice blend of fat and starch. I’m not sure it’s something I would order again but I enjoyed it.

Sometimes I think I keep coming back here just for the dessert trio! As always the Dark Chocolate Marquis Cake took the center stage flagged by pineapple and coconut sorbets on one side and Tahitian Vanilla Crème Brulee on the other. The homemade sorbets were fantastic. Just tart enough and very refreshing after the heavy duck. I didn’t leave a drop of dessert on the plate anywhere.

For a grand total of $20.12 this three course meal is an absolute steal. Until Dine in Brooklyn next year River Café!
