Happy Hour at Dos Caminos

Image
I love a good happy hour and when it comes with nice salty margarita it's even better. Dos Camino's happy hour has a little something for every taste; $4 beers, $5 glasses of wine and $8 margaritas in both traditional and their signature Prickly Pear.  Not to mention a fantastic selection of bar bites that really serve more as dinner than just snack. My favorite is the Chicken Enchilada- a massive corn shell taco covered in mole poblano sauce and queso fresco.  It's saucy, cheesy and loaded with lots of tender chicken. The famous Dos Caminos guacamole is also available during happy hour in a single size portion along with a rich Chorizo Fundido and Pumpkin Seed Fritters.  Happy Hour at Dos Caminos runs from 3:00-6:00 every day so arrive early to take advantage of this great deal. Another Mexican Brunch at Dos Caminos

Image
I absolutely love Mexican style breakfasts. When I think back on my wedding in Mexico the delicious food each morning is almost always the first thing that pops into my mind (oh and my husband:) So having Dos Caminos right by my apartment is pretty awesome for weekend brunch. A complementary cocktail is included but skip the usual Bloody Mary or Mimosa and try out their Prickly Pear Margarita instead. It’s seriously delicious and quite eye catching as well. I’m a creature of habit and always order the same thing here- the Machacado Breakfast tacos. Steak, eggs, cheese and salsa all inside a crispy tortilla shell. It’s a little spicy and has a ton of flavor. If this can’t help you after a few too many beers the night before I don’t know what will. My friend ordered the breakfast quesadilla which didn’t fare quite as well. The tortilla was really disproportionate with lots of cheese in one segment and bacon in another. It was still a decent breakfast but not as del...

Brunch at Dos Caminos

We ended up hitting up a ton of places after our Del Posto lunch- Brass monkey, The Standard, Cowgirl Café, Fat Cat, Grassroots… I’m not even kidding this list goes on and on. None of them are connected or make any sense. It was just a sporadic bar crawl around the city. The next day we chilled out a little more with brunch at Kittichai, some touring around and a great dinner of Indian food at Dhaba. Sunday we woke up and had one more opportunity for food before Christine’s plane. She loves Mexican food and I heartily agree. The nearest option was Dos Caminos in the pouring rain so we trekked quickly up there for brunch. How could we not have a great time- they have a complimentary prickly pear margaritas with brunch! For my main I ordered the Machacado Breakfast tacos. They filled three huge soft taco shells with machaca style beef, scrambled eggs, salsa and Vermont cheddar cheese. This was so damn tasty it immediately entered into my top five brunch dishes. It had everything I wa...

Brunch at Dos Caminos

Image
So my oldest and dearest friends came to visit this weekend for some fun time in the city and a Yankees game. We woke up on Sunday after lots of day drinking at the game and needed a good brunch. Mr. T and I have been to Dos Caminos only once for dinner so I was a little apprehensive about bringing my friends here for brunch. It started off a little rough too. We were seated immediately and then waited for almost 20 minutes as people all around us, who had come in later, ordered their meals. We were extremely dehydrated and hadn't even been given water. I was starting to sweat out the little moisture I had inside when our waiter finally came over. After that hiccup it was smooth sailing. Our waters were filled immediately , our drinks were brought within moments and our food came out quickly. The special is any entree with a free brunch cocktail. A couple of us got your standard mimosas and a couple of us got their Prickley Pear Margarita. The margarita was really good !! I don...
