It's New Brew Friday and if your in NYC you know it's been absolutely brutal outside this week.  I honestly thought my face might melt right off yesterday walking home from work. These 90 degree days are just too much for this lady so tonight it's all about rocking the AC and cracking open a couple of these awesome IPA's from Trillium. Regular Congress Street has always been my favorite beer from Trillium.  It's made with Galaxy hops which are loaded with bright tropical flavors.  The double dry hopping of this beer just means its much bigger with a thick milky body and tons of juicy peach and mango aroma.  The flavor follows suit with more mango, peach and pine and a smooth creamy finish that reminds me of a creamsicle.  It's just perfect for this hazy hot weather we are having- cheers to the weekend! It's been a looooong week to say the least but luckily I've been getting through it with my favorite Other Half beer to date- Like Whoa their collaboration brew with Trillium Brewing. This Double IPA pours a hazy golden orange with a small fluffy white head that quickly dissipates.  The smell is an explosion of tropical fruit-  mango, pineapple, orange peel and sweet papaya with big juicy flavors that remind me of biting into a crackly bruleed orange slice with more mango, a creamy mouthfeel and dry hoppy finish.  I absolutely love this beer-  Cheers to the weekend! It's New Brew Friday and since it feels like a furnace outside today I'm going with one of the most refreshing tropical Pale Ales I know- Galaxy Dry Hopped Fort Point from Trillium Brewery in Boston, Massachusetts. This beer pours a murky yellow gold with a big frothy head that creates a thick bubbly lacing on the glass.  Big aromas of grapefruit, melon, lemon and pine explode from the can followed by flavors of pineapple, mango and kiwi with a resinous bitter finish.  This clocks in at just 6.6 % making it the perfect beer to cool off with during this heat wave.  Cheers to the weekend! My first stop in Boston Friday morning was a treacherous 20 minute walk from our hotel to Trillium Brewery. Huge flakes of thick heavy snow were falling at an alarming rate. By the time I crossed the Fort Point Channel my face was streaming with tears from the wind and I was covered in fresh white powder.  I looked like a walking snowman.  All this to pick up 12 bottles of Trillium's flagship beer Congress Street.  This American IPA pours a hazy orange with a thick frothy white head that clings to the glass creating a beautiful lacing.  Big tropical fruits dominate the aroma; orange, pineapple, peach and mango with an incredible balance of fruit and pine flavors.  Super juicy up front with a clean bitter finish and a crazy bubbly yet creamy mouthfeel.  I'm a huge  fan of Galaxy hops and this beer is pretty close to perfection.  I would gladly walk through another blizzard to have these bottles in my fridge.  Cheers!  Trillium Bre...

Today's New Brew Friday is the newest beer to roll out of Brooklyn's Other Half; Street Green an American IPA brewed in collaboration with Boston's Trillium Brewing.  This beer pours a beautiful cloudy orange with just a tiny bit of foam that quickly dissipates.  Aromas of tangerine, mango and pineapple leap out of the glass.  The flavor is all tropical fruit; mango, tangerine, grapefruit and papaya with a super dry, dank, grassy finish that makes this beer incredibly crushable.  Being that both breweries are known for their exceptional IPA's the hype around this release was huge and I think they hit the mark by creating a really delicious beer.  The cans are all sold out but it's currently available on tap at the brewery and good beer bars around the city. Today's New Brew Friday comes from our Northeast neighbor Boston; a place I despise for sports but love for lobster rolls, baked bean candies and Trillium Brewing. The El Dorado Dry Hopped Sunshower is called a super saison due to it's high abv of 8.5%. This gorgeous golden beer explodes with big, fruity flavors of peach and melon; much more tropical than any saison I've ever had before with an extra dry finish and just a touch of funk.  I can't think of a better to way celebrate the long weekend- Cheers!
