NYC Tastes

Fonda is one of my absolute favorite places in the city for a big delicious Mexican brunch. My go-to dish is the Huevos Divorciados...a big saucy dish of eggs, salsa, ranchero and cheese all piled on top a crispy corn tortilla. A side of rice and beans always accompanies the dish...the only true decision I ever have to make it what to drink. Last time I tried out a fruity watermelon margarita...perfect for the humid weather and with just the right amount of salt. The trek down to Avenue B was the only reason I didn't go to Fonda more often but with a brand new location right in Chelsea I can get my Mexican brunch fix every weekend! As I looked back on the past year I was seriously humbled by the amount of amazing places I've had the opportunity to enjoy.  I am so lucky to live in this wonderful city and don't take a moment for granted.  Hopefully this will serve as a guide for those of you trying to pick out some tasty meals in 2013.  It's not all new for 2012 but it was all new to me! Joan and her husband are creating incredible combinations such as Dark Chocolate Lime Toffee, Salted Espresso Milk Chocolate Caramel and Kalamto Olive with Sea Salt.  The patterns are almost to beautiful to eat but don't let the look fool you...they're way to delicious to leave for eyes only. There is nothing better in my book than a fabulous Mexican breakfast.  I love a big plate of fried eggs, saucy beans and salty tortilla chips. Starting my day with a frosty margarita doesn't hurt either.   The Rosalita combines silver tequila, hibiscus  orange liquor and lime.  I'm not usually a fan of flowery drinks but this one was surprisingly delicious.   Talk about delicious my Huevos Divorciados was amazing!  They took a big crunchy tortilla, slathered on a layer of beans, melted cheese and eggs then topped it off with two spicy sauces, big squares of bacon and a flurry of queso fresco.  I was absolutely in love with this dish. I'm always terrified to bring Mr. T to Mexican places.  His cilantro allergy has ruined more than a few meals but here they did a great job of avoiding the herb.  His Burrito Texano was enormous and filled with lots of  eggs, chorizo and potato. ...
