Shake Shack Breakfast!

Image
Remember  when I booked a trip with Delta just because Shake Shack was serving breakfast ?Well that was four years ago and finally I no longer have to travel so far for that wonderful food.  The Madison Square Park Shake Shack just started serving breakfast!!!  Now it's just a quick walk across 23rd Street to pick up this incredible spread- a thick Sausage, Egg & Cheese for Mr. T and a Bacon, Egg & Cheese for me... ...delicious cold squeezed orange juice... ...and a warm cinnamon sugar dusted Apple Turnover from Four & Twenty Blackbirds. Breakfast is available every day but I try to save it as a special treat for Sunday mornings. Life just got a whole lot happier in the AM! Salt & Pepper Honey Chick'n at Shack Shake

Image
The newest creation on the Shack Shake menu was unveiled last week and I pretty much fell in love with the Salt & Pepper Honey Chick'n Sandwich.   It's their classic buttermilk fried chicken breast, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, dusted with black pepper and coated in salted honey.  The entire sandwich somehow retains that wonderful crunchy exterior while the griddled potato bun soaks up all that honey goodness in one sweet and salty hug. Currently this sandwich is only available at Brooklyn Shake Shack locations which makes me incredibly happy to have my office in Brooklyn Heights. Shake Shack Multiple Locations in NYC

Holiday Shakes at Shake Shack

Image
Shake Shack has really jumped into the holiday season this year by bringing back not just their decadent Hot Chocolate made with caramel sauce and sea salt but also a trio of holidays shakes. Gingerbread, Chocolate Peppermint and Christmas Cookie are the flavors and all three come topped with whipped cream in an adorable penguin cup.  These are only available until January 3rd so plan a trip to the Shack soon to try out one of these special creations.   Shake Shack Available at all locations except the airport

The Chicken Shack at Shake Shack

Fried Chicken = always good.  Shake Shack = always good.  Fried Chicken Shake Shack sandwich...how could this possibly be a bad. The newest item to hit the Shack Shake menu includes a white meat chicken breast with thick sliced pickles, shredded lettuce and buttermilk herb mayo on a butter toasted bun. The chicken is seasoned with lots of black pepper and served super crisp.  I really liked the crunchy outer coating and the meat was incredibly tender.  However as I sat there eating I started to think about all of the other things I love about Shake Shack.  Those plump tomatoes, melted cheese and that awesome Shack Sauce...maybe even some crispy bacon.  Could I possibly customize my own Chicken Club Shack sandwich? April Custard Calendar

Image
I can't believe there was snow on the ground yesterday!   It was so depressing I just wanted to stay in bed all day and close the shades.  But alas I had to go to work and actually be productive.  So on the way home I decided to use the bad weather to my advantage.  Cold temps equal a short line at Shake Shack.  I was waiting patiently for my order when I noticed the line up of custards for April- it's awesome! The pic's a little bright so let me break it down for you: Monday- S'mores Tuesday- Salted Caramel Wednesday- Red Velvet Thursday- Strawberry Rhubarb Blondie Friday- Chocolate Toffee Cake Saturday- Honey Almond Cake Sunday- Malted Marshmallow Milk Chocolate I'm seriously swapping dinner for dessert every day next week.  This list is too good to pass up. Shake Shack Breakfast!

Image
Many of you probably don't realize this but when Shake Shack opened in Madison Square Park years ago they served breakfast.  I only lived a block away so this delicious treat was something I looked forward to many mornings.  Well when they stopped serving it I was devastated...no more breakfast ever? Then I heard they were opening up in the new Delta terminal at JFK AND bringing back breakfast.   Trip booked!  I raced through the terminal Friday morning to get there on time for 11:00 AM breakfast cutoff. The Shack is located way over near Gate B 34 and when I saw the shiny black and green menu I knew I was in the right place. They offer all the regular offerings including the beefy Shack Burger and Flat Top Dogs... And breakfast!!!! I went for the classic Bacon, Egg and Cheese sandwich. Thick salty Nimon Ranch Bacon with a fried egg, melted cheese and a squishy grilled potato roll. Oh my this was delicious!  It seriously ha...

Oh My Pumpkin Pie

Image
If there's ever been a time to swing by Shake Shack now is the  time to go.  Take a look... It's their creamy vanilla frozen custard with a slice of pumpkin pie blended right inside.  It's the Pumpkin Pie, Oh My Fall Concrete and it's only available until December 2nd.  It may not look pretty but this is one of the best Concretes I've ever had from Shake Shack.  In fact it's the most popular Concrete they sell.   So go now before you miss the holiday window! More Fall Flavor

Image
Fall is officially in the air and it's the best time of year to snuggle up with a frothy beer.  I'm really loving the Breakfast Stouts like this Beer Geek Breakfast from Mikkeller.    The strong aroma of coffee and chocolate is followed by a thick, smooth mouthfeel that's incredibly satisfying.  This is one decadent beer that seriously might be a delicious breakfast but I prefer having it with a nice autumn dinner dessert. The Pumpkin Pie custard from Shake Shack is a perfect way to celebrate the season.  I was hoping for more big pie pieces inside but the creamy, cool sweetness really hit the spot. The only thing better could be making this twosome into one...Pumpkin Pie Coffee Float anyone:)

Signs of Spring!!

Image
Okay so it wasn't exactly warm out today but I was in the spring spirit. We decided to forgo making the dinner we had planned and headed over to shack shake for some awesome burgers. As we waited for our food I decided to try out the beer they have on tap that's made exclusively for the Shake Shack from Brooklyn Brewery called the ShackMeister Ale. I am always trying to support the local breweries and have tried almost every Brooklyn Brewery beer to date so I really needed to check this one out. As you can see it wasn't exactly warm while we were drinking the beer but man I really enjoyed it. Obviously a plastic cup isn't the best device for trying a new beer but at Shake Shack that's how they roll. For such a bad drinking device this beer was excellent! It poured a light amber and had quite the lacy head and a fantastic autumn smell. The taste was wonderful as well. It had a nice malty dry hopped flavor that was perfect for drinking in the chilly park. If they b...

I Love Danny Meyer!!!!

I've already said a million times that the Tavern Room at Gramercy tavern is my favorite place in the world. And I've talked about the suckling pig from Eleven Madison Park as being one of the best dishes of 2007. And I've also put Union Square Cafe as one of my "wish list" places to go to in 2008. What do all of these places have in common? Danny Meyer- genius restaurateur. All of these places are his and all are fabulous! The one place that I haven't talked about yet though is his smaller, though not lesser known place, the Shack Shake. The Shack Shake is just what is sounds like. A little hut in Madison Square Park that sells burgers, custards, hot dogs and just great stuff. In the summer the line can be over 2 hours long. Lucky for me I only live 1 block away! So whenever it would rain or the weather would be nasty I would run over and grab some food because there would be no line. Well now Danny Meyer has fulfilled my dreams and decided to keep the Shack ...
