Sammich's at RUB

I’ve written about Rub before. I actually think last time I did a face off between ribs and wings at RUB versus those at Dinosaur BBQ. Dinosaur won but that doesn’t mean RUB isn’t awesome. Case in point- their pulled BBQ pork sandwich. It’s hard to tell from the picture but this pork shoulder was incredibly tender and moist. There was a very light sauce on top but the meat was so wonderful I saw no need to add anymore. Maybe throw a pickle on top and you’re done. A perfectly squishy sandwich bun sealed the deal and I was in pulled pork heaven. Mr. T ordered the BBQ rib sandwich Basically boneless ribs covered in some BBQ sauce and served on a bun. His was pretty good- the sauce was very tasty and it came with the same squishy bun. It just seemed to need a little something extra to me. If I had ordered this dish I would have gone all out and gotten it with a sloppy top. Here’s the sloppy top! A nice big scoop of coleslaw right on top of the meat. Who wouldn’t lo...

BBQ Face Off!! Dinosaur vs. RUB

So we went out to two BBQ dinners this past week and I have to compare them since we got basically the same things. Okay- just to start- I have eaten at both RUB and Dinosaur BBQ before, although the dinosaur I ate at was in Syracuse, but I knew what to expect walking in. At Dinosaur we started off by splitting an order of their Honey BBQ and Garlic Chipotle wings. This is one of each and once I saw them coming to our table I couldn't help but smile. These were actual wings!! They were big, meaty and oh so close to the Buffalo wings I grew up with!! The Honey BBQ sauce was nice although I thought it could be a little sweeter The Garlic chipotle however rocked!!! They had an excellent smokey garlic flavor which just enough spice at the end to leave your lips and mouth burning for a few seconds after. For my main I ordered the 1/2 rack BBQ Plate that came with a choice of two sides and cornbread. The ribs were just as I remembered from Syracuse. Meat that was juicy, moist and covered...

RUB- Righteous Urban Barbeque

To celebrate the actual day of Mr. T's birth we meet up with some friends for dinner at RUB. RUB is a BBQ joint that specializes in Kansas City style cue. One of our friends is from Kansas and swears these ribs are the real deal. RUB smokes their meat for hours on the grill and the wondeful smell fills the restaurant and spills out into the street. I secretly think they blow the smoke out onto the sidewalk so it consumes meat obsessed people like me. I've passed by before, and immediately visions of myself ordering every kind of meat imaginable: ribs, brisket, ends, chicken enter my head. Baked beans spilling onto my shirt, fingers covered in greasy, spicy, glorious goodness. And then, It's over. The smell has passed and I am in a sort of stupor as to what had just occured. But luckily, tonight I was not just passing by. I was going to eat. And I was going to eat a lot of meat! I was so excited to get my grub on as soon as we were inside I felt a little crazy because I kne...
