Not so Wonderful at the Crow's Nest

Image
Last year Mr. T and I began our 4th of July with some lovely drinks and food at the Crow’s nest. We enjoyed ourselves so much we decided to return again this 4th for some more. We showed up right around 2:30 and got some seats at the bar. The bartenders seemed swamped even though the place was barely half full. Luckily we got our drink order in without any problems. My Pina Colada was delicious as usual. They really do make the best one in the city…unfortunately it’s also $12 which is pretty steep for a frozen drink. We enjoyed our cocktails and then waited with our food menus for a little over 20 minutes. The bartenders were nice enough it just seemed like the entire place was in chaos. Finally I asked the guy if we could order some food. My sliders that came out did not resemble the sliders we had there over Memorial Day. The beef was so overcooked it was almost like eating a hockey puck and the special sauce was no where to be found. At least I got some food. M...

Enjoy the Outdoors this Weekend!

It's supposed to be an absolutely gorgeous weekend filled with sunny skies so I thought I'd give you some great outdoor food ideas to enjoy every second of it! First up Madison Square Market which closes up shop on Friday. I stopped by for one last Asia Dog the other day and got The Mash- an all beef dog with spicy ketchup, jalapeno mustard and crushed up salt and pepper potato chips. Can you say delicious!!! OMG I loved this even more than the Wangding- I'm a firm believer that ketchup NEVER belongs on a hot dog but this changed my opinion forever. Over in Midtown you can check out the new BeerParc and enjoy one of the games on the Giant 35 ft. Screen. They have about 10 different beers on tap and food carts from Fatty Snacks, Edi & the Wolf and Thai food from Harold Dieterle. If you’re looking for some time on the water you’ve got two great options over on the East Side. Riverpark added some additional tables to their outdoor space complete with a separate sna...

Independence and Seafood- Meal I

Wow has this year been hot so far or what!!! Whenever the temperature rises above 80 degrees I’m not exactly thrilled. I love the summer sun but all this humidity really makes it difficult to do anything. That being said however- I love the fourth of July and I wasn’t going to let this weather keep me indoors. So Mr. T and I headed to the Crow’s Nest on Sunday for a little lunch in the sun. The Crow’s Nest is located on top of the Water Club right on the river. The views are gorgeous and all the tiki torches and cheesy music really make it feel like your on vacation. Not only that but they make my favorite fruity drink- a Banana Pina Colada. This is so good!!! I could drink like 10 of these but I’m aware of the calorie count in such drinks so I limited myself to one and took my time enjoying it. Mr. T went safe with a Heineken Light and we got set to order some food. The menu at the Crow’s Nest is pretty limited. This is basically it: We decided to get an order of the Jumbo S...

Happy 4th of July Weekend!

Image
I hope everyone did something a little festive this year. I took myself out for a drink at the Crow's Nest which is located on the rooftop of the Water Club. I decided to go all out and order the Banana Pina Colada. This drink was so delicious!! It was worth every empty calorie it contained and more. It was such a nice day to sit otsde and look at the water. What a great spot. I felt like I was on vacation and it was only 20 minute walk from my apartment! God I love NYC. Happy 4th!
